The journal issue 9 | Example marketing and web design

Hello!

It’s the end of another week when we can’t decide whether we have made it into Spring or not. We’re sure you agree that it was a very welcome sight to see some sunshine for a few days! Despite what season we may or may not be in, one thing we DO know is that we are quarter of the way through 2023 already! How has it been going for you?

It’s been an interesting start to the year for us, we’ve been getting out and about to lots of networking and catching up with plenty of new and old connections. There is such a lovely bunch of people out in the Norfolk business community and we are chuffed to meet more of you every time we don our Netwalking hats.

Enjoy this month’s list of somethings 🙌

SOMETHING WE’VE DONE

Feel Good/Do Good Networking

If you pay any attention to our social media, you will know that we love a bit of networking that gets us out and about. And if we can do good whilst catching up with lovely folk then even better!

Recently Emma R popped along to Pick’n’Mix Impactful Networking, organised by the wonderful Stacy Bradley. As the name suggests, it consists of networking whilst litter picking. Just like plogging, but a touch slower…🐢

It was a fabulous morning of getting stuck in with lots of other people who also like to do their bit to make a difference to the community around them. What a lovely thing to do!

On the day there was:
👉 79kgs of rubbish collected
👉 £500 raised to go towards home security for victims of post-relationship abuse
👉 Lots of positive chats and business connections made.

It may only be April but we’ve helped our most remote client, St Kilda Club, get their 2024 calendar designed, printed and available on their online shop! We bloomin’ love a well prepared client.

SOMETHING WE’VE SEEN

JustGiving

Turning a thing into a something.

One of System1’s recent ‘ad of the week’ winners is this lovely advert from JustGiving. It’s a heartwarming nod to three fundraisers who use JustGiving to raise money for their cause. The ad gives the fundraisers a name – the Just Givers – suggesting the platform is more than a place to take donations, it’s a community and uses cinematic camera angles and uplifting music to provide swell of motivation in viewers (well, it did for us anyway!). Jim Broadbent’s soothing tones are an excellent addition too, it’s all very matter of fact, this is just what these amazing people do everyday, and Just Giving helps them make a difference.

We like it. Watch the ad here >

Read: Should you cut your marketing budget during and economic downturn? by Example Marketing

In our latest article we have taken a look at whether it’s a good idea to cut your marketing budget in an economic downturn.

It may seem like we are tooting our own horn here but it’s an important question and we think that there may be a few people asking themselves the same question right now. Besides, what’s wrong with tooting your own horn?

Watch: Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Garage by Cadbury (1 minute)

We’ve already whet your whistle for heartwarming ads so may we offer another? Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Garage, System1 called it the best ad of 2023 so far. You may have seen this one on tv since its release in January but we think it’s worth sharing again. Now, where did we hide that last bit of Easter chocolate…

Do: Check your Google Business Profile listing

Here’s a really quick and easy thing you can do to make sure your business details are accurate. Take a quick 5 minutes to update your Google Business Profile (formerly “Google My Business”). Make sure your address, contact details and opening hours are correct – you’ll also want to make sure they are consistent across all platforms, such as your website and social media profiles. This is super important and helps with SEO around local searches.

If you don’t already have a Google Business Profile set up, it is well worth doing so. It gives searches another way to find you, enables you to collect Google Reviews and can improve your overall visibility in search. Best of all, it’s free and easy to set up.
